WOW... only 5 Days until we LEAVE!!

We are getting so close to the End of one Journey and the Beginning of another adventure. In 5 days we will be in EE meeting Gavin for the first time. I have played the scenario over and over again in my head. When we walk into the orphanage will he turn and run the opposite direction OR will he come with open arms?? I have no idea! I have been praying night after night that God would prepare his heart for our arrival. I know its going to be difficult on him. The orphanage is his home. It is the only place he knows. He will have to grief the loss of that life and the people he trust and loves there.  We are in full nesting mode this weekend. Clothing being washed and packed. The calls and emails from family and friends wishing us luck and praying for us has been wonderful. We appreciate all your support so much. I cannot wait to share pictures and our story with all of you. My mom will be here in 4 days to care for the Thomas crew. All 3 children for 9 days! Bless her and her continued support to bring Gavin home. Please continue to pray for us to have a safe trip. Also, that Gavin's health will stay in check for the long trip home! YEP TRIP HOME!!!

Proudly Announcing our new Son

Proudly Announcing our new Son!!!
Gavin Nikolov Thomas became a Thomas last Monday November 26th!! God is SO good!! The court hearing went perfect and the judge granted us full legal custody. AMAZING!! It took 11 months to finalize Gavin's adoption. It has not been easy but he is absolutely worth it.  I am sorry I am late to update our blog. Its been crazy around here planning and booking for our trip. In 30 days we will be in EE taking our son out of the orphanage and home where he belongs. OUR SON!! It is hard for me to believe I am now a mother to four! WOW, We are truly blessed to have Gavin in our family. Extended family has been celebrating and rejoicing with us!

I wish I had some words of wisdom to share with the thousands of readers that visit our blog. I just want you all to know that if you are considering adoption OR the thought has never crossed your mind, think about it. Pray about it. I cannot tell you how many children's profiles my heart cries out for. These children are REAL. They are neglected, abused, starved. They need to be saved. If you are not in a position to adopt yourself there are ways to help. Advocate! Donate! I cannot tell you how many people think that if you can't fund the adoption, you shouldn't adopt. That comment is so ridiculous! Point is, people collect donations for so many things. People collect money for charities, schools, field trips..... The list goes on and on. Just because a family cannot afford the upfront cost of $23-$35,000. Does not mean they should not adopt. Just because we could not afford $24,000 should we have left Gavin in a orphanage to die because they cannot treat his medical problems. People say "Its not your problem" YES, it is our problem. God has commanded us to rescure the lonely, to save orphans.
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
James 1:27
